No photographs please ....

Today I am bag-making!

I'm a little behind schedule this month.  Why is it that time just flies by when you have so many things you want to do?

Anyway, as per usual I'm not doing things the easiest way - I'm in the process of making two bags for a swap on Ravelry.  And because they are for someone else I daren't post any photographs for fear that she may see it!

So hold your breath and as soon as they are finished and she's received them I will post photos for you to see.

A little teaser until then ... she likes sheep!

The REAL Knot Bag ...

I can finally put the photos up of the final Knot Bag I made and sent as it has been received now!

I chose two Japanese-style fabrics that were of the same print but different colour-ways as I wanted to make the bag reversible.  All the recipient had requested was browny pinky shades.

So here are the pictures ...

Complete with my little label - which I think gives it more of a professional look
and also says it's ME who made it!

Peeking inside

And as it's reversible - the other colour-way ....

Which colour-way do you prefer?

And inside this way round ...

And the bottom!
I top-stitched all round it and the handles to give it more of a polished finish.
I am rather pleased with the finished product

And even better - the lady in Canada who received it - said it was perfect!

Woo hoo!

A Trial Knot Bag Run ....

In one of the swaps I have taken part in someone asked for a Knot Bag.

So as I love bags and making them I offered to make one.  (I did google quite a bit before offering!)

Anyway I thought the best way would be to make my own pattern and make a trial run - just to make sure I got it right.

And here is my trial run - modelled very nicely for me by Adam ....

If you're anything like me - you'll love bags!

I'm signing up for a swap in March to make a project bag and this was one of the links.  I may well be using this as inspiration ...

February Irene

I'm feeling rather pleased with myself.  Today I have sat down and completed my blocks for February for the Goodnight Irene sew-along.

http://terrytreasures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/goodnight-irene-sew-along.html

I thought I'd share my five blocks with you ... actually five and a half ... as a I got carried away with sewing the 2 1/2" squares together!

The X blocks work in progress ...

And my three completed X's ...

I do love how this block works - it is really quite simple to do and so effective.

My two completed 2 1/2" squares blocks and the half one that I got carried away with!

Don't they look lovely and bright (they'd look brighter in daylight too!)

And I've been playing with the little triangle bits left over from the X blocks ...

I do hate to throw any bit of fabric away!

I am loving this sew-along.  The pattern is brilliant, and I found myself browsing jelly-rolls earlier and thought how nice it would look in creams and pale beiges ....!

Cutting Irene and Exhausted Battery

I spent Friday cutting all the squares for Goodnight Irene as I really wanted to get it started before the end of January.  I was so proud of myself as actually not only did I cut the squares out but I sewed my five blocks too!

However when I came to take a photo the camera's battery was exhausted and I couldn't even take the pictures!

http://terrytreasures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/goodnight-irene-sew-along.html

So here, for starters are the photos I did manage to take before the camera conked out on me ... all my squares cut and ready to go ...

And will you look at that ... the jelly roll which I thought was just a brightly coloured roll is actually a Kaffe Fassett!  So I'm feeling a little sheepish that I didn't realise - but also quite excited that I'm actually going to use Kaffe Fassett's fabric in my quilt!

Now, without further ado I will prove that I have completed the five blocks - just wish I could prove that it was last Friday - the 31 January - when I made them!

What do you think?  I like them and am really pleased with them - and I think the mauvey main colour works quite well against the bright Kaffe Fassett jelly-roll!

So ... ready for the next step....

Friendship Square(s) received

Do you remember the funny little snowman I made to send off for one lucky (?) lady in a www.ravelry.com swap?

Well I have received mine!

Aren't they lovely?  Two little snowflakes on gorgeous blue backgrounds.

In this swap we are paired up randomly, usually sending to a different person than who we receive from - and it's kept secret until they are received.  This month, however, my recipient was also my sender!

February's swap is a Valentine or Anti-Valentine's swap.  So lots of hearts - or not!
